All Should Partake

460-_9417422

If you are reading this, first of all thank you for visiting this website.

As a Jehovahs Witness April 3rd 2015 is one of the most important nights in the calendar for the year.

When the emblems come by you this year what will you be doing?

“Since sharing in the bread and wine passed during the Memorial involves all of this, it would obviously be inappropriate for those having an earthly hope to partake”. Watchtower 15th February 2006.

Do you have a heavenly hope or an earthly one? You may say that only 144,000 have a heavenly hope, and therefore you are one of the people who will be resurrected on to the earth.

Does the bible actually say that only a set number will go to heaven?

After this I saw, and look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands. And they keep shouting with a loud voice, saying: “Salvation we owe to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.” Revelation 7:9,10 (New World Translation)

Are you part of the great crowd? If the answer is yes, then according to scripture you are going to heaven! John’s prophesy talks about a great crowd which is standing before the throne and before the lamb. Where is the throne of God?

Jehovah is in his holy temple.  Jehovah’s throne is in the HEAVENS. Psalms 11:4 (New World Translation)

So the great crowd are standing in front of the throne, and the throne is in heaven.

If that is the case then what of these 144,000? Who are these?

And I heard the number of those who were sealed, 144,000, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel: Out of the tribe of Judah 12,000 sealed; out of the tribe of Reu′ben 12,000; out of the tribe of Gad 12,000;out of the tribe of Ash′er 12,000; out of the tribe of Naph′ta·li 12,000; out of the tribe of Ma·nas′seh 12,000;  out of the tribe of Sim′e·on 12,000; out of the tribe of Le′vi 12,000; out of the tribe of Is′sa·char 12,000;  out of the tribe of Zeb′u·lun 12,000; out of the tribe of Joseph 12,000; out of the tribe of Benjamin 12,000 sealed. Revelation 7:4-8 (New World Translation)

Is it possible that the 144,000 are actually from the exact tribes John is prophesying about? Why read into this verse any more than what it literally says?

What of this number 144,000? Was this not supposed to represent the number of people that would reign in heaven with Christ or which all would be faithful Jehovahs Witnesses?

A number of questions arise..

  • Between the disciples dying and Charles Taze Russell starting the Watchtower organisation did nobody go to heaven?
  • Should not the number of people partaking actually fall instead of rise? In 2005 only 8,524 partook, yet in 2014 14,121 partook why?

“Logically, the calling of the little flock would draw to a close when the number was nearing completion, and the evidence is that the general gathering of these specially blessed ones ended in 1935.” Watchtower 1995 Feb 15 p.19

If the tribes are mentioned in the verse in Revelation, why are the 144,000 not actually from those tribes?

Is it possible that this teaching of the Watchtower is actually incorrect? What does the bible actually say about partaking?

For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night on which he was going to be betrayed took a loaf, and after giving thanks, he broke it and said: “This means my body, which is in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” He did the same with the cup also, after they had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood. Keep doing this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you EAT this loaf and DRINK this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he comes. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (New World Translation)

2 things here……1) Jesus specifically said to EAT this loaf and DRINK this cup and 2) According to Jehovahs Witness teaching Jesus already returned in 1914, so why do you “keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he comes” when you believe he already returned in 1914?

Jesus spoke of how important it was to partake of the bread and wine.

So Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves. John 6:53 (New World Translation)

Will you follow the words of Jesus or follow the words of the governing body?

This “little flock” of 144,000 Kingdom heirs, then, are those ones from among mankind who are “born again – Watchtower 15th November 1954

Did Jesus say only 144,000 Partake? No! Did Jesus say only 144,000 need to be born again?

In response Jesus said to him: “Most truly I say to you, unless ANYONE is born again,*+ he cannot see the Kingdom of God. – John 3:3 (New World Translation)

The bible says unless ANYONE is born again, not just 144,000.

Are you born again? If you are not then how can you expect to see the kingdom of God?

  1. Hi Jason,
I appreciate your comments and outreach to JW’s. Even for those few of the JW anointed who do partake it seems to me to be pointless. The reason I say this is that those anointed have not “come” to Jesus Christ as he invites all who would be his true disciples to do.

Coming To Jesus Christ John 5:40; 6:35, 37,44,45,65
“You are searching the scriptures because you think you will have everlasting life by means of them; and these are the very ones that bear witness about me. And yet you do not want to come to me so that you may have life”. John 5:39, 40 NWT
Christians in obedience to Jesus command must “come” to him. What is meant in “coming” to Jesus Christ. The Greek word translated “come” is Erchomai and Thayer in his Greek/English lexicon comments with reference to its use in John 5:40; 6:35,37,44,45,65 “to commit oneself to the instruction of Jesus (which Jehovah’s Witnesses do) and enter into fellowship with him which Jehovah’s Witnesses cannot do as they cannot worship or pray to him. So in effect anointed Jehovah’s Witnesses are similar to those Jesus mentions at John 5:39, 40 considering scriptures about Jesus and what he taught but not “coming” to him to gain life. Jesus invites us to “come to him ” (Matt 11:28-30) which requires us to surrender our life to him and for him (John 13:37,38) and love him (Eph 6:24).
When I was a witnesses I often heard conversations about when someone “came into the truth”, never even from those claiming to be anointed when they “came to jesus Christ”, surrendering their lives to him.

    Knowing Jesus Christ John 17:3
“This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ”. John 17:3 NWT. Footnote “Or their taking in knowledge of you”.

“Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And then yet I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me you workers of lawlessness”. Matthew 7:22, 23 NWT.
Jehovah’s Witnesses know a lot about Jesus Christ but do not know him.

Christians in obedience to Jesus command, need to “know” both the Father and the Son . The Watchtower society has recently acknowledged that the Greek word Ginosko translated “ knowing” not only includes knowing about (information about) the Father, but also includes having a close personal relationship and companionship with him.
The Watchtower society applies such a meaning to a relationship with the Father sustained in part through prayer to him. However the second half of John 17:3 indicates Christians should have exactly the same relationship with the Son, Jesus Christ. Jehovah’s witnesses have since 1954, been directed by the Watchtower society not to pray to or worship Jesus Christ, they are therefore denied an essential way of developing a personal relationship with him.
Jehovah’s witnesses are expected to “come” to Jehovah but not “come” to Jesus Christ through giving their lives to him. They are therefore denied the opportunity to “come” to him (Matt 11:28-30) as the only away to the Father (John 14:6). This means that Christ cannot dwell in their hearts (Eph 3:17) and nor can his spirit (Gal 4:6). The Father draws individuals to “come” to Christ ( John 5:40; 6:35,37,44,45,65) and gives them to him (John 6:37) and Christ will not lose them or drive them away (John 10:27-29, 6:37-40).

These comments are taken from a power point presentation I recently gave to church members from churches located in the area where I live. It was entitled Sharing The Christian Gospel With Jehovah’s Witnesses. A much shorter version can be viewed on You Tube at:-

My very best wishes for your ministry,
    2 Cor 13:14

    Michael

  2. Jason, excellent article !

    miken, Well said !

  3. I was thinking about the scripture quoted in this article ( 1 Cor 11:23-26 NWT ) and especially where Jesus said referring to the bread : ” This means my body ” — that’s a reference to Matt 26:26 .

Now Jw’s invite the public to their memorial service because they have a message to share and it is promised to be a presentation of Bible truth . Indeed , what Jw’s claim to offer the public is that they alone have the authority to relay God’s truth to mankind , that Watchtower publications are where Jehovah feeds His people the correct interpretation of the scriptures– the Bible .
The authority of the Watchtower :

people can’t get the holy spirit or understand the Bible without the Watchtower organization
    [ W.T. mag 7-1-1965 p 391 ]
” Jehovah’s visible organization is a tremendously dependable source . Never once has it misled me in any way .Everything it has said has been based on God’s Word ” [ W.T. mag 6-1-1984 p 12 ].
The Watchtower magazine is a dependable Bible study aid because : Since 1879 it has been published regularly for the benefit of sincere students of the Bible . Over that extended period of time the Watchtower has consistently proven itself dependable .” [ NWT 1950 ed p 793 ] .

    The Watchtower publishes the truth ” not some personal opinion ” of men . [ W.t mag 2-1-1952 p 49 ; see also W.T. 11-1-1931 p 327 ] .

In short the claim is that only in the publications of the Watchtower society can the correct interpretation of the scriptures be found . The Watchtower is the consistent reliable source for understanding what the Bible teaches .

With these claims in mind what do we find out about the Watchtower’s interpretation of Jesus’ statement in Matt 26:26 where He mentions the bread and says ” This means my body “? What is meant by “body” here? It seems that since it’s beginning the Watchtower taught it meant His body members the christian congregation . Jw’s were assured by their leaders that this was the correct view . [ example — W.T. mag 3-15-1954 p 174 ] .

But then after all that time the interpretation was changed ! The new teaching was that the correct interpretation of ” body ” in Matt 26:26 was that it referred to Jesus’ body of flesh .[ Make Sure of All Things Hold Fast To What Is Fine 1965 p 323 ] . Jw’s were assured this was the correct view .

Such vacillating can be viewed rightly as the product of men , not spiritual food from Jesus who is said to be directing the Watchtower organization . Bottom line : the Watchtower organization can not be trusted to interpret God’s word for anyone , it is not a reliable source for that .

Understanding about the Memorial and the hope the New Testament reveals for all of those who have complied with the Father’s arrangement for everlasting life by coming directly to Jesus
is not complicated . Jason’s article states the truth about this one hope all Christians share because all can rightly partake at the memorial / Lord’s supper .

    Thanks again Jason .
